Barry Jione
Manager Claims

Barry Christopher Jione was appointed as the Manager Claims, effective 28th July 2025. Barry brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years in the financial and insurance industry. Prior to this appointment, Barry served as Assistant Manager Claims from 12th June 2024, demonstrating strong leadership and expertise in claims management.

Barry began his career in 1994 with the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), where he served for 18 years in various capacities including Managerial Support Staff, and later as Corporate Communications & Public Relations Officer. In 2012, he joined the Life Insurance Corporation of India and then moved to BSP Life Insurance in 2013 as a Licensed Insurance Advisor.

In 2014, Barry joined SUN as a Customer Services Officer in the Underwriting Department. His dedication and performance led to his transfer to the Claims Department in 2018, where he was promoted to Senior Customer Services Officer. In 2023, he briefly joined Insurance Holdings Pacific Limited as a Claims Consultant before returning to SUN in July 2024 as Assistant Manager Claims.

Originally from the beautiful island of Rotuma, Barry is widely respected for his depth of industry knowledge, professional integrity, and customer-centric approach. He is currently pursuing his ANZIIF (Assoc) CIP qualification, further reflecting his commitment to professional development.
