Monica Trufil Aguilar is the Manager Legal & Company Secretary at Sun Insurance, where she leads the development of in-house legal frameworks and provides strategic advice on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. As the company’s first in-house counsel, Monica plays a pivotal role in shaping policies, reviewing contracts, and guiding regulatory matters to strengthen Sun Insurance’s operations and protect its stakeholders.

She brings a diverse professional background that bridges law, business, and media. Before joining Sun Insurance, Monica worked as a commercial lawyer, advising on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, intellectual property, and property law. She also contributed to legal education as a law tutor and held journalism and media roles, reporting on business and corporate affairs across Fiji and the Pacific.

Monica holds a Master of Business Management from Binus University in Indonesia, a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Journalism from the University of the South Pacific, and a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice. Her career reflects her strong commitment to corporate governance, ethical practice, and clear communication.

Beyond her professional work, Monica has represented Fiji in various youth leadership roles, including the Commonwealth Youth Council and the Fiji Youth Parliament. She is a member of the Fiji Law Society, the Fiji Women Lawyers Association, and several professional networks that support women and young lawyers.
