Principal Officer

Avikash Ram was appointed as the Principal Officer of SUN Insurance on 16th July 2025, following over a decade of dedicated service and leadership within the organization.

As the Principal Officer, Avikash is responsible for overseeing the entire operations of SUN Insurance, including strategic planning, underwriting, claims, finance, customer relations, reinsurance, distribution, HR, and IT. He plays a pivotal role in driving sustainable business growth, regulatory compliance, innovation, and operational efficiency. His leadership has helped solidify SUN’s position as a key player in Fiji’s general insurance sector and a pioneer in climate-resilient solutions.

Prior to his appointment as Principal Officer, Avikash served as Manager Customer Services and Sales (2023–2025), where he led broker and direct sales channels, branch and agency networks, and all corporate affairs. He was instrumental in spearheading key projects such as the development of Fiji’s first parametric insurance cover in partnership with UNCDF and PICAP, positioning SUN Insurance at the forefront of climate risk finance.

Starting his journey at SUN in 2010 as a Customer Service Officer, Avikash steadily rose through the ranks, becoming the first Branch Manager of SUN’s Nadi Branch in 2014. His career progression reflects his dedication, deep understanding of the insurance landscape, and consistent delivery of results.

Originally from Savusavu, the hidden paradise of Fiji, Avikash holds over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. He is a Senior Associate CIP (Certified Insurance Professional) in General Insurance from ANZIIF (Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance) and is currently pursuing his Senior Associate in Loss Adjusting. He is also a provisional member of AICLA (Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters).

Avikash continues to be a champion of innovation and customer-centric service, and a strong advocate for strengthening the role of insurance in building Fiji’s resilience to natural catastrophes and climate change.
